Best Flat Screen TV's (LCD's)

A new flat screen TV is one of the top Christmas gifts this year. There are so many of them on the market that it can be overwhelming to choose which one to buy. I think most people feel that the most important feature to look at when shopping for a flat screen is the picture quality. If you don't enjoy the picture quality you're not going to be happy with your TV. I've done some searching and hope that the following suggestions will help you in making a decision. All of these models have 1080p resolution, the highest possible for better picture quality and gaming ability.



In the 32" category, the Samsung LN32B650 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTVgives you great picture resolution and sharper color with its 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The Auto Motion Plus doubles the frame rate up to 120 frames per second so sports and fast action movies will look great. The Samsung LN32B650 is a little higher priced than other models but the picture quality is worth the money.



If the 32" Samsung is more than your budget can handle then you might want to look at the Sony BRAVIA XBR KDL-32XBR9 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV. You'll still get good picture quality with the Sony even though the dynamic contrast is 40,000:1. The MotionFlow feature gives you just as much fast active viewing ability as the Samsung. For just a little less vivid color and sharpness you'll save about $200.




The best buy in the 37" category is the Panasonic Viera TC-37LZ800 1080p LCD HDTV. This Panasonic offers IPS Alpha technology that gives you great picture quality from any angle that you're watching from. It's dynamic contrast ratio is 10,000:1 and the Motion Focus technology lets you watch all those fast action flicks. This Viera model has Link HDAVI Control that lets you operate your home theatre from your remote. This TV is a great buy for a brand name.



Once you move past the 40" screen size in LCD TV's, there are more advanced options available. The 42" Toshiba REGZA 42ZV650U 1080p LCD HDTV gives a boost in audio and video technology. The ClearScan 240 ups the frame speed from 120 to 240 frames per second with backlight scanning. The PixelPure 5G has a 14-bit internal processor that increases sharpness and clarity. Dolby Volume maintains the volume at a preferred level. Combine all this with Cinema Mode, TheatreWide, and Gaming Mode and this is the perfect TV for home theatre lovers.

The JVC Home JVC LT-42P300 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTVis rated a best buy by Consumer Reports. This TV will deliver a sharp picture with its 1920x1080 screen and 120HZ Clear Motion Drive. What's neat about this model is the ability to play back any video that you have on your Ipod through the integrated TeleDock. This TV has some cool features at at great price.



The 46" Sony Bravia XBR KDL-46XBR8 1080p LCD HDTVis a premium level model when it comes to picture quality. Along with it's full HD 1080p (1920x1080) screen, the Sony Bravia comes with Triluminos RGB Dynamic LED backlight. This wonderful technology produces a much higher and accurate color purity that gets adjusted by the backlight. In a nutshell, you're going to get picture quality that will knock you over. Add in the MotionFlow 120HZ and you won't be disappointed with anything that you watch. This TV tends to be priced a little higher than others its size, but when you buy at Amazon you'll save over $1,400. This huge discount makes it well worth the money.



Toshiba has a great buy with its 46" Toshiba REGZA 46XV540U 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV. If you're looking for a very reasonably priced larger screen LCD then this model will be great for you. This 46" Toshiba with ThinLine Bezel features a 14 bit PixelPure processor, a 10 Bit LCD panel, and the Deep Dynamic Contrast Ratio. The most notable feature for this price is the ClearFrame 120 HZ Frame Rate that minimized motion blur so you won't miss any action on the screen.



It would appear that I have a preference for the Toshiba LCD's but you know what? They have very nice specs and they are so nicely discounted at Amazon that they're great buys! The 52" Toshiba REGZA 52XV645U 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTVhas a CineSpeed Display, ClearFrame 120 HZ that reduces motion blur, and a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 50,000:1. This is a pretty solid model that will perform well. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some of the other models do, but it's priced well below the recommended retail price. Another solid TV at a great price!



The granddaddy of them all is the 55" Samsung LN55B650 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color. This Samsung LCD has awesome picture quality with 100,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, 4ms response time, and Auto Motion Plus 120 HZ for the dreaded motion blur.
